LA Times selling out for a few Adsense bucks

The LA Times has put it’s archive of articles online. Free for anybody to browse. The main page is currently showing a rather strange pick as for a featured article: Sexy Halloween Costumes…for little girls?

Rather tasteless, but I guess that is the purpose of the tag line, drawing the attention to the fact that girls costumes have become way too sexy for them to wear at that age. From the article:

There’s a recurring theme in Halloween costumes for girls this year, and it’s kind of spooky. What’s going on?

Halloween costumes for 7- and 8-year-old girls and even younger have become downright titillating, and for tweens and teens, the vast majority of those sold in stores and on the Internet are unabashedly sexually alluring.

Little girls and their big sisters are being encouraged to get dressed up, in many cases, like child prostitutes. Then, they wander the night judging and being judged by their friends as to how well they meet the provocative standard and begging for candy from strangers.

For most of the article, I agree. However, the ads triggered around the article are of somewhat questionable.

LATimes

While the Bigger newspapers are complaining about Google stealing their revenue, these same newspapers are allowing some dodgy ads on their archive pages.
